irri-table to accep-table

Well, hello friends!

Here is one of the things I have been working on whilst I've been away. I've never really liked my kitchen table so I thought I'd paint it. And I thought I'd try to give it an aged look. Even though I expected it would take awhile it took even longer than that. I'm not sure I love it but I know I like it decidedly better than before. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me at the time so I have no before pictures but in essence it was black with a light oak table top. I'm not sure how I feel about it just yet. I would like to paint the chairs, too. Maybe white. I don't know. I'll just have to live with it for awhile before I make up my mind. And then maybe I'll paint the cupboards and repaint the walls and .... Has anyone seen that episode of Mr. Bean where he just seals off his room from the inside and then explodes a can of paint inside of it? You know in the long run it just might be more efficient!

Now the next thing on my list is to complete a story for a writing class I'm taking. I have been occasionally peeking in on your blogs and catching up with your worlds when I can. I will add my two bits again at some point when the dust settles. :)

Yeah!! It's nice to see a new entry from my dear Colleen! The table looks really cool! I love the aged look, and the blue is really you. Very cool. Change can take time to get used to. Perhaps it will grow on you even more over time.

Looks like you've been busy. Good for you! I fully support you in your quest to get things/projects accomplished in your life. Don't hide for too long ... I miss you.

Your table looks great! I'm so impressed that you took on such a daunting task! I am not that brave, and mine would not turn out as beautiful! Love it!
Hope you had fun.

I really like the new look Colleen! Very impressive work you did there. I do love that 'rustic' look very much. I was very happy to see a new post today....I hope you come back into blog-land full force really soon :)

I like the table! The 'old' look works! I've seen this sort of thing done in Better Homes & Gardens. Nice Work, champ!

Also, YES! I have seen that episode of Mr. Bean. Hilarious!

Thanks, you people you! It was fun for the most part and an improvement over what it was. I could launch into all the ins and outs of the horrors and joys I experienced as I sanded and painted and waited and painted and painted and waited and sanded, etc. but I will spare you.

Thanks too for saying you miss me because I miss you too and I miss doing this. I completely love it and have no plans of giving it up forever. It'll probably be another month or so ... 1)I have to write a story for my class and 2)I'm working everyday for the next three weeks (not counting Sundays) so ....

You guys rock. Thank you and love you.

I'll add my vote of confidence as well. I love the table - sort of antique farmhouse-looking. Very homey!

I recently watched an episode of Mythbusters wehere they tried to duplicate that same Mr. Bean exploit. Needless to say, it was a mess. But it did look like fun.

Thanks again for all the nice comments about the table - an "antique farmhouse-looking" table was exactly the look I was hoping for so hurrah! It's hard to be objective about something when your nose is two inches away from it over the course of a couple weeks. :/

Oh grrr. I just wanna write piles of things to each one of you. But I will be "good" and hold off for a wee while yet. Each of you mean a lot to me.

Cheerio, my peeps!

Ace, you make me chuckle.

Love the table too, Colleen.

Class? Did I miss something? You have time to take a class? What kind of class? Oh yeah, something is tweaking my brain that you are taking a creative writing class. Sorry for my momentary lapse. (Hows about next time I re-read the entry before I start mouthing off. Just to show you how blond I really am, I am not going to backtrack on this comment, I'm just going to arbitrarily publish it, anyway. Maybe Blogger will be kind, and eat it. :-P)

Love ya!
