Hi! How are you?

It's been a full but quiet week with my evenings spent watching TV with my hubby. Since we don't have cable we often rent DVDs (or bum them off friends) of TV series we hear are good. This week I was introduced to Firefly and found I really enjoyed it. Mark says I remind him of Kaylee alot because she's always smiling and cheery. What else? Not much. Um, let's see. It's been mighty cold here. And by mighty I mean around -35°C, so by cold I mean ... cold. But it's been beautiful. Bright clean blue sky and happy happy sunshine. We normally have a sunny winter but this year has been an exception and with the short days of winter filled with cloud I have found myself a sponge for any light whatsoever. But hooray! The short days of winter are far behind us. For the next 7 months I will get so much gold joy that at some point I will be upset with it all. We'll block out the intrusive rays from our bedroom window with old towels and anything else in which we don't care if it fades. It's a land of extremes and tit for tat. Nothing comes easily but when it finally does come it's ... smiley.

You have just now been introduced to Firefly?! I thought we would have persuaded you into the cult--I mean, club--long before now! One of our (and by "our," I mean I'm obsessed and Jason has mild enthusiasm) favourites! (Except episode 3. Blech.) The worst part is when you get to the last episode, and realize that there will never, ever be another one. At least there's Serenity to watch after that. Sigh. Phooey to Fox, canceling it halfway into it's first season.

And Phooey to red and green spell-check lines that don't know how to spell in Canadian.

Talena! I'd actually never ever heard of it until about 1 week ago. A guy that Mark works with introduced him to it and he lent us his DVDs and now I too have a hole in my heart where more seasons of Firefly should be. There was one episode (I can't remember the #) where I was EXTREMELY reminded of my Haiti boat experience. Anyhoo, Mark and I LOVE it, dig it and would marry it if certain and many things about that last comment didn't make any sense whatsoever.

Sonya! Welcome back, sicko! (How ya feelin'?) Firefly is, well, a Space Western. Rent it. I'm telling you. I'm SURE you will love it what with your crazy sense of humour and whatnot. And if you don't like it you can huck eggs at me and tromp about the house with an angry scowl. If you watch it and LOVE it then go and rent Serenity. It's a movie based on the series.

I am so extremely sorry. I have failed you as a friend and a fellow Lost freak. I knew from the first 5 minutes of the first episode ever aired of Firefly that I would love it, and that therefore it would get cancelled before the end of the first season, in typical anti-scifi-Fox fashion. I simply love this show, can sing the theme song note for note, have incorporated many of the expressions (ok, not the chinese ones), into my vocabulary, and was in the theatre the day Serenity opened.

Ok, I'll stop there. Just one more thing - I have corrupted at least 3 other people to my ways. Now you can join the club, though not by my hand.

Well, I know that I told Mark about this long ago (at LEAST as long ago as your last visit here), so he had some prior "prepping". I didn't think it would take him so long to get on the bandwagon, though. Would have lent you the discs ourselves, except we don't actually own them--we had borrowed them from mon père, and returned them when we moved to the Not-Quite-So-Far-North-As-You-Far-North.

I would also marry it. And also Ewan McGregor in Down With Love and Moulin Rouge. (That may not seem related, but I just watched Down With Love--AGAIN--last night. At the risk of sounding like one of those types of idolizing fans I despise, he's just yummy, and the boy can sing!) Um, that is, if I weren't already married to the yummiest, most amazing man on the planet. (I'll let you claim Mark as a tie, if you want--but only because he's related!)

Oh! And I see you've started HP#2! I was somewhat irritated when the library was fresh out of the next one in the series for me when we were there on Thursday. Grr. Oh, well. I got more knitting and Dream-House-planning done on the weekend that way.

How many more comments would I have to leave to win the prize for "Most Annoying Commenter"?

Oh, Fudge! I feel your frustration with FOX. GRRRRR. I hate it when good things, no matter what they are, aren't given a chance. It is incredibly deflating to me. Shinee! (or ... something.) I am in your Club hands down. I love our Firefly and wish, somehow, it could yet resurect despite the futility of my hoping it.

T-Bean! Oops! I mean ...

T-Bean! Ah, that's better. Sometimes it just can't all be said in one comment box. :) I had to look up Down With Love because I wasn't sure if I'd seen it but ... it's all coming back to me now. I think I liked it. I'm bad though. Generally if I don't see a movie twice I forget it. I think I saw Moulin Rouge at your place actually. It was a visual/audible feast.

Thank you so much for "letting" me claim Mark as Simply the Best! I am grateful for the gesture. ;)

Regarding Ewan and Others I always find it interesting that a certain arrangement of nose and eyes, wit, gait, boufant, etc can settle into something particularly pleasing to one and not-so-much to another, don't you?

T! P.S. And I'm thoroughly enjoy HP#2! It took me a good 1 or 2 minutes to figure out what that was and all I could think of was a pencil. But isn't that HB#2? That and something Hewlett-Packard. Yes, I'm a swift one. The second book is fun and a delight from start to middle (I'm not finished yet.)

Can't wait to hear more about the Dream House Plans.

Hey! Wasn't there a thing called e-mail for all this chit chat? Or am I thinking of the telephone? Hmmm. It's been so long since I've employed those means.

Kori, you are more than welcome to help yourself to some of my sunshine but would you take some of the cold with you, too? And yes, there are only so many shows a person can watch. We must pace ourselves! :)

Kandace, if we'd known you'd had House we wouldn't have rented the whole dang thing! Mark loved that show! We had a House marathon going on there for awhile in the fall when you were still prego.

Jillian - me, too! Home is such a haven and winter is when I really feel that the most (which is like aLOT here).

Rachel - thanks, man! :)

Talena - I concur with your Pfffttt! x.

Oh Bunsen. Who are you? I wonder. Ah yes, the joys of annonymity. Hmmmm, who are my faves? Well you'd have to be crazy not to like Kaylee, you are right. And then there's Mal and Simon, methinks. I like how kind Simon is with his sis. Oh yes. It's real. I KNOW it is.
