somewhere out there

Sunday afternoon we drove for an hour until the road ended in a lake.
Then we paddled for an hour until the lake ended in an island.

We built a house.

He fished and
fillet-oed.

Monday morning we awoke to rain.
A fading rainbow and pull-apart clouds like cinnamon sticky rolls ...
so I took photos.

Breakfast is served.

If there's something better I don't know about it.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous! That's gorgeous and I'll bet it was so much fun! Looks better than the +4C we had today with rain and wind:)

You've painted a lovely picture of camping... but the sticky bun clouds sold me on it :)

When all is said and done it's still camping. I like everything about your little adventure except the tent. I have yet to have a good sleep in a tent!

Looks like a great time! Love the photos - especially the last one and how the sunlight made those little twinkles! :)
It's been a very very long time since I camped - some lifetime I will try it again.

Kel! 4°C? Eep. It's been chilly here since camping but not that chilly! May you find a hot cup of java and a wooly blanket to cheer you.

T! It was a lovely spot. I'm so thankful the weather cooperated. We've had a beautiful summer so far but ever since we've been camping it's been cold and windy so we made it just in the nick of time. xo.

Twas, Ruthie, twas. Shmeeblewhip. :)

Kori! Ha ha! Awesome! It's just too bad I didn't have a blue tin plate with a steamy baked good to go along with the clouds. Then I would have truly been happy. ;)

Ha Rachel! You make me laugh. I love your blunt honesty. There was one place I camped years ago that I wish you could've gone to ... we literally slept on the thickest bed of moss, probably about half a foot deep. It was soooo soft. Better than any mattress. But that was definitely an exception to the general "crick-in-my-back" camping one usually experiences.

Ace! It was Earth alright ... about one hour just left of the Middle of Nowhere. I use a Canon something or other - I don't know! And I'm not at home right now to check. It's actually just an okay camera - it oft produces grayish greeny tinted photos. I think it was just one of those days when I couldn't take a bad picture because everything was so darn beautiful. The camera just recorded things. I snapped over 200 of pics. God bless digital cameras. :)

Sinead! It was perfect. The true North, strong and free. Sing with me! Wait a sec. Never mind. Sing something lovely and Irish instead. That'll do. :)

Hello, Shari. I love sunlight twinkles, too. That's what you are to me after all these years - a wonderful sunlight twinkle. xo.

Lang 1! One day on this island with your sweetheart and you would feel like a new man - even ready to take on a 5th lil screamer. :)

Was gorgeous pics! You've a good eye! I do like me some camping. In a couple years we'll go again. Sounds like the perfect break from everyday life.

Thanks, Jillian! I hadn't gone camping in years so it was a wonderful experience - something we hope to do more of. We'll try not to wait so long this time!
