(The first place I lived when I moved here was in the building with the polar bear atop. Then we moved to the smaller apartments shown to the left of it. We have since moved into a house.)
I live in Finland, and the coldest weather I remember having here was -42 C a couple of years back. Still, I walked to school. That's what we Northern peoples are made of!
Thanks for you blog, it's a treat of beauty I enjoy on daily basis :)
Satu! Welcome! That's so cool! My husband is from Finland. Well, at least half of him is ... his father is Finnish. When Mark was 16 he visited many of his relatives there. I would LOVE to go someday. In many ways it is similar to here except ... where you live is prettier I think. I have not always lived in the North so you can imagine my shock to hear that if it was -30°C or warmer the school kids have to play outside at recess. Hardy stuff indeed! I'm SO glad to hear from you and I'm glad you like it here. Keep warm. :)
Oh, my, oh, my, there is no beauty that matches cold and snow. I do remember -40 when I was a girl, but I haven't seen it for a while. Tom and I laugh when we hear of people retiring to warmer climes, and I say, 'Yellowknife!' What kind of heat do you have? Oil, coal, wood?? I just love your photos to pieces.
My name is Colleen. I love taking my time and finding beauty and humour in things before they happen - as in seeds and salamanders.
"The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing — to reach the Mountain, to find the place where all the beauty came from — my country, the place where I ought to have been born. Do you think it all meant nothing, all the longing? The longing for home? For indeed it now feels not like going, but like going back."

I'm sorry that I complained about our temps - very sorry. Please forgive me.
Okay, me too, no complaining of the hot weather here.

I'm surprised people's camera batteries work at that temperature. Mine starts to get a little unreliable.
But the photos are gorgeous, whilst one is wrapped in a cozy blanket in front of a computer.
Just don't open the window. (Shudder.)
