This is, simply, the ground. The snow melted into water and the water froze into a sort of ground pond. And it's colourful because the sun was setting. And it's just off to the side of the road heading into town. There you have it! :)

Oh! And no helicopter trip, T! It has a sort of aerial look to it but I just stood upon the ground and pointed the camera down. :)
