giveaway! time's up!
Hello everyone! Things are a bit of a swirl these days and will be for several yet. (Speaking of swirls, Mark and I saw a circle whirl yesterday as we drove toward errands, as we left them behind. Puff of wind and spun a snow globe, orbiting an inch above concrete, hula hooping, ring around the rosie, then foof - gone, still laughing.)
All that to say (due to said swirls) I need to take a blogiday for about ten days. In the meantime however I'd like to have a giveaway! I want to give someone a photo of mine of their choosing. I've been considering what photos I'd like to have in my shop and thought I should come to you for advice. Over the next few days, while I'm away, please leave a comment letting me know your favourite photo from The Pancake Chronicles along with your contact information or, if you prefer, you can email me at bugwrit@yahoo.ca. If you should win, the photo will be professionally printed onto canvas and shipped to you free of charge for you to frame as you like! It will be worth up to a $50 value (depending on the size you choose). I will draw a name from a hat and post the name of the winner on Saturday, February 21st! YAY! I can't wait to hear from you and know your thoughts!
Truly,
Colleen

Colleen, I feel that you have given me a nearly impossible mission. How does one choose a favorite photo from so many great possibilities? I'm going to go through your entire archives and try to nail down my favorite. Wish me luck!
Hello Colleen, What a lovely giveaway. As above an impossible task, but if I had to choose it is 'little pely' for me. In this photograph you have captured the sky and water my two favourites things. So hopefully I'm a winner.
Many Thanks,
I am new to this blog, but I really like your snow lanterns picture! It's beautiful!
You are way too cool for me.
A great idea Colleen! You have so many beautiful photos! I have many choices, but if I were to choose one, it would be "Mellow Yellow" - because I am picturing it on the wall in a certain boys room, perhaps. Good luck to me, tee hee! :o)
Thanks for the opportunity to have one of your photographs. Difficult to pick out just one but I'd have to go with the flower photo from 26th July 08 for no other reason than it's simply stunning.

Beach steps to ocean...love it!!!
Hello Colleen.
I really like this contest thing. I was going to pick the one of Mark licking icicles off of his beard, but it didn't really go with my decor. So, I am going to pick from the farmhouse pics of Jan. 2008. The piano... it brings back both wonderful and painful memories.
Thanks, Pamelamelamela
Oh Colleenie! A giveaway!!
Like the others, so hard to choose!
I wanted to go with the snowman cartoon but it might not go with the decor (what decor??) so I have always loved the blue blue ocean and white sand Mexico photos or else a YK photo like the recent ones where the sun is behind the clouds/fog stuff.
Happy blogiday :)
Love Kel
Hi Colleen, My vote would also be for the yellow car in the snow. Luv that one. I guess you call it mellow yellow. Like daughter (Dickie Chick), like mom. Sorry Dickie Chick, I want it. You are a fabulous photographer Colleen, as well as a wonderful writer.
What an extraordinary thing to offer, Colleen. You are so generous. I'm going to email you with my choice. Hope you have a good time away. Blogiday could = a blog a day to visit. :<)
Ok, after careful consideration I'm going to go with Shroom Shroom (Nov. 9/08) Whew! Mission accomplished. :)
Your pictures are all so beautiful!!
Since I think I was a 'snow angel' in my former life I would have to choose 'Barb' from Knock knock :)
This was a toughie, you are an amazing photographer! I narrowed it down to the mountain and lake shot in Calgary (I think) from 10/07/08 or the shot of what looks like winter wheat poking through the snow from 11/18/07. Pls put my name in the hat! I really enjoy your blog - it's another world from sunny Florida.
Just looking at this page I love the notebook with the coffee cup , just part of it BECAUSE it is my favorite
place to write. A pen, a cup of tea or coffee and a notebook. That is where quiet meets my heart and then down into my soul.

Your pictures from Moraine Lake, Alberta (written about in Oct 08). They are stunning. They also mean a lot more because of what this beautiful trip meant to you, and the way you wrote about it. It sounded magical and your photos are beautiful. Any of the ones from that post.
I also adore the photo of you as a toddler playing the piano.
Thinking of you my sweet Colleen. x
As others have said, you have soooo many wonderful photos, so it's really hard to choose!
For myself, I will have to say the Cameron Falls picture from Sept 06, just cause I never did get any good pics from there the whole time I lived there.
You are an awesome photographer and writer. And I miss you!! ♥

Prince Ed Island- the bridge pic :) its sooooooo beautiful!
An impossible task for sure but my favorite is from saturday, january 26, 2008 -- it's all relative -- the one with the truck in it.
Hey there,
Difficult to choose, but for me it is the 'snow lanterns' one. Why? Because as soon as I see it, my heart starts jumping with glee at a sight 'so simple' yet indescribably beautiful and my head starts spinning these sweet, romantic dreams. The snow lanterns? They're dreamy.
I'm in.
"Yesterday", from July 22 '08, But I really want "today" to go with it so I might have to go shopping!
in your post on Dec 23/08 you have a BEAUTIFUL closeup pic of a poinsetta.. that is my fav ( of many favs) picture. Red is my ultimate favourtie color and I love christmas and winter and that sums it up for me. I have always wanted to get some sort of 'art' from or made by someone in Yellowknife to commemorate our time here and how neat would it be if it was from you!! That would be so cool.... this is a really neat giveaway!
oh yah.. my contact info.. you can just leave me a post on my blog if I win.. fingers crossed!
oh... I can't tell you how many photos of yours that I love... but today as I was looking back the bubbles photo from this day made me smile... so that would be fun!.

I also love the pretty flower on this day

and about a zillion other ones :)
I hope I haven't missed it! Maybe you're not as picky as some other contests, but it's already the 21st in your part of the world. At first I thought this was a REALLY tough assignment, but I have enjoyed so much going through your archives and tracing your photographic journey. You have become such a beautiful photographer!
And yes, picking just one photo was a challenge. For me it was a tie - I really cannot decide if I prefer July 22/08 (today), or the July 9/08 picture of flowers I can't name. Both have a beauty and a statement all their own. Right now July 22 edges ahead, but wait a couple of minutes and the other will come right up.
Two others were definite runners-up: a simple yet fascinating picture of grass (Jan 12/09), and some budding artist's interpretation of a tree (June 3/07), complete with partridge or peacock or something. There's something almost musical about the branches that appeals to me.
If you were giving a prize for longest vote, I guess I'd win! Thanks for not letting me miss out on this, next time slap a calendar on my forehead so I realize that the 21st is this weekend, not next!
Love you, my friend!
