take me back

© Colleen Hilman
Isn't there something so wonderful when, after days of cloud, the sun cracks through a break in the grey and reminds you that he's been there all along and it was only a matter of time before you'd once again cross paths? That was this morning and now it's dark.
Lately I've been enjoying old movies. I'm not familiar with very many and was hoping some of you might be able to flashlight the way for me. What are your favourite black and white films? The Thin Man movies were a series I discovered through the Yellowknife library and I adore them. If you ever get a chance to watch them, do - the banter between husband and wife is witty and so sweet. Hence! Thus! Tell me things! Tell me things forthwith!

Anything Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers! Also, "Bringing Up Baby" with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn.

I don't know many old movies either. I haven't even seen Breakfast at Tiffany's!! But I've always wanted to delve into them. Happy hunting!
I'll have to check out the Thin Man series. Sounds cute.

LOVE the photograph!

As for old movies, I've seen a number of them. One of my faves is Pillow Talk. I also love Rear Window and North By Northwest.

I just watched My Fair Lady, it's good. But I LOVE Casablanca (be still my heart!) and Gone with the Wind. I love searching out old movies as well! Wish you were closer to share them with :)

I couldn't read the Thin Man thing (slow computer) but will look it up.

I love any old war movie. They Were Expendable with John Wayne is awesome and my all time favorite war movie is Twelve O'Clock High (air force movie!!).

I need to see Breakfast at Tiffany's again. Keep us updated as to what you watch!!

Our sun peeked out today as well and the temp soared to +4C!!!! It was beautiful as was the sunset. I always think of you when I see beautiful sunsets and wish I had a good camera to catch them but I don't. The clouds were dark but glowed pink underneath as they hung over the mountain range and the actual sunset was a glowing molten golden orange that turned to pink. Stunning!

I love old movies, we have been watching a lot of them lately. Try "I Know Where I'm Going." It is good and not too well known. A must watch is "It Happened One Night." It is the original rom-com. Any of Frank Capra's films are good, try "Meet John Doe." Well, there are a few to get you started. Hope you enjoy.

Rio Bravo - an old cowboy classic with John Wayne features one beautiful scene where featuring Dean Martin & Ricky Nelson singing "My Rifle, My Pony, and Me" which is superb.

The Big Sleep - an absolute classic Bogart detective-mystery movie.

Citizen Kane - the movie that was a highlight and the finishing of Orson Welles career.
